Frequently Asked Questions

What is Nutella?
Nutella® (pronounced "new-tell-uh"), The Original Creamy, Chocolaty Hazelnut
Spread, is a deliciously unique spread made from cocoa, hazelnuts, and skim
milk, that is Spreadably Delicious™ on a wide variety of breads. For more
information on the rich History of Nutella, click here.

What does Nutella spread taste like?
The combination of roasted hazelnuts, skim milk and cocoa create a deliciously
unique creamy, chocolaty taste with a hint of that roasted nut flavor that will
delight your taste buds as you enjoy each delicious mouthful.

How should Nutella be stored?
Unopened and opened jars of Nutella should be stored at room temperature.
Keep the jar tightly closed and store in a cool place to maintain maximum flavor.
Do not refrigerate Nutella or it will be difficult to spread. Excessive heat will
accelerate the loss of fresh flavor and may cause the oils found in Nutella
to separate.

How do I know how fresh my jar of Nutella is?
The "Sell By" date that is stamped on every jar of Nutella is the date that assures
the best product quality and freshness. Nutella is good for one year.

What can I eat Nutella with?
Spread Nutella on whole wheat multigrain, or bakery breads, bagels, English
Muffins, waffles, toast, or croissants, and enjoy for breakfast, lunch, or as a
delicious afternoon snack.

Why does Nutella look like chocolate?
Nutella looks like chocolate because of the cocoa that gets added into the ingredients.
Cocoa gives Nutella it's smooth chocolaty appearance. This rich infusion of hazelnuts,
skim milk and cocoa makes Nutella a perfect choice to be enjoyed with various breads.

Where is Nutella made?
Nutella is made by Ferrero U.S.A., Inc., which is headquartered in Somerset, New
Jersey. Other manufacturing plants that produce Nutella are also located worldwide.

Where can I buy Nutella?
Nutella can be found in most supermarkets in the peanut butter aisle. To find a store
near you that sells Nutella click on the Nutella Store Locator.

Is there any caffeine in Nutella?
Since cocoa is an ingredient in Nutella, there is just a trace of caffeine in a 2 tablespoon serving.

I like to eat Nutella out of the jar with a spoon. Is that OK?
While we agree that the creamy, chocolaty, hazelnut taste of Nutella is
delicious all by itself, we suggest not to "double dip," as it reduces the shelf life of the product.
